St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2018: The Dostoevsky museum gets a new building
On May 25, 2018, as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the city of Saint Petersburg and the Dostoevsky’s Petersburg Fund for Support and Development of the F.M. Dostoevsky Museum signed a letter of intent for an effective cooperation aimed at cultural and tourism development in Saint Petersburg.
The letter was signed by the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko and the Dostoevsky’s Petersburg Fund cofounder and Head of the Board Andrey Yakunin.
The letter secures the intention of the city and the Dostoevsky’s Petersburg Fund for Support and Development of the F.M. Dostoevsky Museum to implement a construction project for a new building of the Literary-Memorial Museum of F.M. Dostoevsky at the following address: site 11 at the Kuznechny lane, (to the west of 9/27 А Kuznechny lane), St. Petersburg, the building to further operate as the Literary-Memorial Museum of F.M. Dostoevsky.
The new five-storey building of a 1,600 sqm total area will adjoin the existing Literary-Memorial Museum building (5/2 Kuznechny lane). The enhancement of the museum space is associated with the 200th Anniversary of the writer. The project is to be implemented in 2018-2021. The amount of investment planned is 650 million rubles.
