Evgeny Gerasimov Workshop at the VI Architecture of St. Petersburg Biennale
On April 18–24, the traditional Architecture of St. Petersburg Biennale took place in the Marble Hall of the Russian Museum of Ethnography. 13 participants, members of the Architectural Workshops Association , presented their projects and buildings.
While the workshops usually tend to present the items developed in the last two years, Evgeny Gerasimov’s Workshop picked a non-habitual way to present its works, devoting all the exhibition areas available to it to a single facility, the Nevskaya Ratusha Administrative, Public, and Business Complex (ratusha being the Russian word for a city hall). The complex had been constructed in cooperation with Sergey Tchoban’s SPEECH Bureau. In addition to the pictures of the buildings and insides of the city hall, taken as closely as possible, a scale model of the complex was presented, which drew a lot of interest from the visitors.
At the gallery of the Marble Hall, a retrospective exhibition of the Leningrad avantgarde architecture was deployed, showing three hundred buildings built from 1917 to 1991.
The biennale business program comprised lectures and discussions, including round tables, on important topics. On April 21 Evgeny Gerasimov gave a public lecture named «The Nevskaya Ratusha Business Area. From an idea to the object».
