Description

The facades of the residential complex resemble the Art Deco masters' experiments in search of new expressive features, including the use of color. For example, pedestals that were used to attach the figures became an important part of the works of fine plastic art. It was usually made of natural stone matching the statuette, sometimes inlaid with stones of a different color. Following the masters of Art Deco, who referred to the plastics of Ancient Egypt, modern architects also combine traditionality and modernity.

The projected apartment buildings with built-in and attached premises, garage (parking lot), pre-school education facility, primary and secondary education facility are located on the land plot of the former Sevkabel factory. The projected facility is a complex of six 10-storey buildings, arranged along the boulevard, which is a public space and the axis of the complex.

The boulevard starts at the Kozhevennaya Lane and the entrance square and ends with a public space with an opening to the Church of Our Lady of Mercy. Along the boulevard there is an alternation of walking areas with tree plantings and public spaces.

Built-in premises of the first floors are facing the boulevard. The projected residential complex is located in the historical part of Vasilievsky Island, formed in the XVIII-XX centuries as an industrial part of the city.

The surrounding architectural environment, formed during different periods, has a diverse architectural and historical context. It features examples of brick industrial architecture of the 19th century, industrial architecture of the Constructivist era of the 1920s-1930s, as well as industrial architecture of the Soviet post-war period.

The architectural image of the projected facility reflects its functional and planning solutions and extends the modern perception of minimalist residential neighborhoods with a combination of expressive geometric shapes, lines and Art Deco facade patterns. The patterns resemble geometric shapes and their lines are inspired by basketry and braid weaving.

To the southwest of the site is Sevkabel Port public space, an example of industrial area renovation and its transformation into a multifunctional creative space. The design also took into account the surrounding cultural heritage objects: the joint-stock company "Connecting Cable Plants" (Siemens & Halske) complex of buildings and the Messonier Mansion.

The layout of the buildings is based on the following compositional techniques:

- central location of the public part of the boulevard;

- arrangement of a comfortable forezone next to Kozhevennaya Lane, spatially and visually connected with Sevkabel Port and exiting to the embankment of the Gulf of Finland;

- alternation of developed and open landscaped spaces along the boulevard axis;

- views of the Church of Our Lady of Mercy and the "Connecting Cable Plants" (Siemens & Halske) complex of buildings

- education facilities closing the boulevard axis.
